(New York, NY – September 4, 2012) – Music World Gospel artist, Le’Andria Johnson has kept up a whirlwind pace since being introduced to millions a mere two years ago as one of the then hopeful contestants on BET’s reality television singing competition, Sunday Best.  Since being crowned the show’s winner – Johnson has released three albums through Music World Gospel selling over 200,000 copies of her debut CD The Awakening of Le’Andria Johnson in less than a year and picking up a GRAMMY® for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Performance for hit song “Jesus”. The album was #1 on the Billboard Gospel Charts for 7 weeks and remained in the top 10 for 33 weeks. Johnson was just named the Best Female Gospel Artist of 2011 for the First Annual Digital Gospel Music Awards through Interactive One and EURweb. 

Back with a new live CD/DVD release aptly called Le’Andria Johnson: The Experience fans are treated to a 13-track body of work showcasing the melodious intricacies of Johnson’s voice and the passionate delivery of the message behind her music. Johnson is backed by an exemplary band led by album producer; David Blakely. (Dorinda Clark Cole, Edwin Hawkins, Byron Cage) Le’Andria Johnson: The Experience has something for all with an infusion of jazz, soul, gospel, blues, and more.  The album gives fans what they’ve been waiting and asking for – Le’Andria live. The CD/DVD takes fans back to church as Le’Andria belts out each song in a way that only she can do – reminding all of how she won the title, Sunday Best.

 

The lead single “My Story Continues” is a feel good, urban contemporary track where Johnson bares all, sharing her journey, her fears, her passions and her hopes for the future. Johnson proclaims, “they said I would never make it this far but I knew something different from the start.” The chorus continues “never thought I would live long enough to say… my story continues.”

 

The song that is perhaps the most relatable by all who hear it is “Complicated” which is climbing up the urban AC charts currently ranked in the top 50. The blues-tinged ballad tugs at one’s heart strings, exposing the complexities of relationships. The song begins, “saying you love me comes easy, showing you love must be hard. My soul can’t take another broken heart. Why do you say you love me when you know you really don’t mean it? Is lust the only factor ‘cause love I just don’t see it…love is complicated.”

 

The album kicks off with “I’m Living” – a vibrant tune featuring, hard-hitting drums, pulsating guitar riffs, and infectious energy. Johnson’s sassy vocal delivery, reminiscent of past R&B and gospel powerhouses before her like Aretha Franklin, is showcased as she sings, “Now I like my jazz, and I like my blues, both hip-hop and R&B just to name a few, but it don’t mean nothing if it can’t carry you through, only the word of God for me will do.” Included on the CD/DVD, Johnson serenades a stage 4 cancer victim on the DVD while singing, “God Will Take Care of You.”

 

“Lord Keep Me By Day” showcases the vocal range of Johnson giving a contemporary twist to the gospel standard. For the hymn lovers, Johnson provides a medley of hymns accompanied by the familiar sound of an old church organ. To the delight of fans, Johnson ends the album with a live extended version of her hit single, “Jesus.”

 

The September 18^th album release comes on the heels of Johnson’s early September expected delivery of her fourth child. The 29 yr old, twice divorced, single mom has candidly spoken about her struggles and how she has adjusted to fame. Johnson has had her share of difficulty but has resolutely chosen to sing through it all in hopes of reaching many along the way.

 

Le’Andria Johnson: The Experience was recorded at St. Stephens Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. The CD will be released in two versions a 13-song standard version and a deluxe version with live extended tracks and a DVD.
