REVIEW: ANTICIPATION – DAMITA
Acoustically simple though highly reverent with the striking lyrics of “All to you I give/In Your presence I will live/everything I have is Yours/You’re the one I am living for…” is precisely what the magnanimous track Be Revealed encompasses.
As with Won’t Turn Back, Elevate Me’s racing track has a uniqueness contained within the melodic background effects that add a touch of je ne sais quoi to the tune which invokes the feeling of an adrenaline rush. After listening to this apex of a track, what little hair I have on my head and the back of my neck, are now standing as Damita cries-“This is amazing!”
Listener! If deep bass, a powerful singing voice, and a cleverly positive message in a song is what’s desired, then this is definitely the song to peep! I am typically a fan of songs sang from God’s or Jesus’ perspective and this song perfectly enraptures that typicality.
The title song Anticipation(Waitin 4 U) truly brings this album full circle in the sheer awesomeness of the song. Being that Damita’s album releases have been fairly distanced, one might think she was speaking of the record’s release but no way, she is actually speaking of the anticipation of being in God’s presence-Ovation!
Bogarting, blitzing, and barraging are all sufficient terms to describe the intensive degree of the tune TTLO(Turn The Lights On!) The beat boxing-esque effects on the song along with the quaking bass tones give this song a special quality which lends to the simple but positive message within the song.
Again, a timely change in pace is what the ballad I Love You holds: merely a ballad sentimentally but more a pop it in the deck, turn it up and ride song in the feel of the track. Nonetheless, a wonderful hybrid song especially as Damita states “Aint no doubt about it/I just wanna shout it” –I Love You!
Inasmuch as Damita may be speaking upon her own super powers, I believe the song Super Shero speaks towards women in general by describing how almighty powers can be found within through faith; the tempo and positivity of this final track serve well in the exodus of Anticipation as well as segueing to the genesis of her potential upcoming project-Well done!
